What MyCallIn is
MyCallIn is a check-in system used by many Indiana county probation departments and court services offices to run random drug testing. It works two ways: a phone hotline you call, and a website, mycallin.com, you can check instead.
When you start the program, your county gives you a unique ID number. You need that number every time you check, whether by phone or online.
How the daily check works
Each day your program runs, you call your county's hotline number or visit mycallin.com. On the website, you enter your last name and your ID number. On the phone, the system asks for your ID. Either way, you get one of two answers:
- "You are required to test today." You report to your testing site that day, during the hours your county sets.
- "Do not test today." You are done until tomorrow.
Most counties only give the answer during a set window each day, starting in the morning. If you call too early or too late, the system will not tell you whether you test. Each county sets its own window and its own hotline number, so go by the instruction sheet your county gave you.
An example: Shelby County
Shelby County Court Services publishes its rules, and they are a good picture of how Indiana counties run this:
Shelby County drug screen hotline: (317) 642-3130
You can also check at mycallin.com with your assigned ID number. The county warns that calling too early or too late means the system "will not tell you if you test or not."
In Shelby County, if you are required to test, you report to Court Services during their testing hours that day. Reporting after the testing window closes can count as a violation. Screens are observed, and you get two attempts within one hour to provide a sample. Other counties have their own versions of these rules, but the shape is similar everywhere: check daily, test the same day, no makeups.
What happens if you miss
Indiana counties treat a missed screen as a violation of your supervision. Failing to check the line at all is just as bad, because you have no way to know whether you were called. If you miss a day, contact your probation officer right away, explain what happened, and follow their instructions.
Keeping up with it
Checking one line once is easy. Checking it every single day for the length of your probation is the hard part. CallForMe calls your check-in line for you each day and tells you what it said by text, email, and phone call. If it is your day to test, you know early enough to plan around work and rides.
